Smart Home Automation Upgrade – Ballarat, Victoria
Project information:
Location: Ballarat, Victoria
Project type: Existing Home Automation Upgrade

Service area: Melbourne, Ballarat, Sydney and Australia-wide projects
This home automation project in Ballarat, Victoria is a great example of how Innovative Automation can modernise an existing property without requiring a complete electrical rewire.
The home was originally fitted with an older automation system and existing switches that made it difficult to return to conventional switching or create practical 2-way and 3-way switching arrangements. Using a Zigbee-based home automation solution together with Easydom software as the main user interface, we were able to completely reorganise the way the lighting and controls operated while making better use of the existing wiring.
One of the key advantages of Zigbee technology is that multi-way switching can be created virtually. Instead of relying entirely on traditional hardwired 2-way or 3-way configurations, switches can be digitally linked and mirrored throughout the home. This allowed us to restore simple, intuitive everyday switching while also introducing a much more powerful smart home system.
The new automation platform now brings together lighting, motorised blinds, intercom, garage door control and gate access within one integrated system. We were also able to retain the home's existing Hikvision touchscreen monitor, incorporating the home automation interface into it rather than unnecessarily replacing equipment that could still be used effectively.
An additional touchscreen was installed to provide a larger and more convenient interface for managing the home, improving visibility and making daily home automation control easier for the occupants.
Automation was also introduced throughout areas such as the hallways and bathrooms using occupancy and movement sensors. Lights can now operate automatically when required, while brightness and behaviour can change depending on the time of day. During the night, for example, lighting can operate at a lower level to provide safe visibility without unnecessarily disturbing sleep.
The result is a more comfortable, efficient and intuitive home that makes better use of its existing electrical infrastructure while benefiting from modern automation technology.
At Innovative Automation, we specialise in finding practical solutions for both new homes and existing properties. Whether the project involves correcting limitations of an older automation system, integrating different technologies or creating a completely new smart home, our goal is to improve energy efficiency, convenience, comfort and everyday functionality.
Based in Melbourne, Victoria, Innovative Automation provides home automation and smart home solutions across Melbourne, Ballarat, regional Victoria, Sydney and throughout Australia, depending on the requirements and scale of the project.
For homeowners, builders and renovators looking for a flexible smart home solution, our systems can integrate lighting, blinds, HVAC, intercoms, CCTV, alarms, access control, audio, energy monitoring and other building technologies into a single easy-to-use platform.
